On July 11, 2022, the United States issued an official notice about continuing to extend the time to consider initiating an investigation against trade remedies duty evasion for a number of steel pipe products imported from Vietnam until July 28, 2022.
The steel pipe products in the investigation case mainly belong to HS codes 7306.61 and 7306.30.
The English names of these products are Light-Walled Rectangular Pipe and Tube and Circular Welded Carbon Quality Steel Pipe/ Circular Welded Non-Alloy Steel Pipe.
Extension of the time to consider initiating an investigation against trade remedy evasion with respect to some imported steel pipe products
The application for investigation against trade remedy duty evasion with a number of steel pipe products was filed by large steel pipe manufacturers in the United States such as Nucor Corporation, Bull Moose Tube, Maruichi Steel Corporation, etc.
According to the accusation, Vietnam is a transit country for anti-dumping duty evasion for steel products that are subject to trade remedy duties in China, Taiwan – China, Korea, and India from the USA.
According to US regulations, within 30 days of receiving the application, the DOC will issue a decision to initiate the case. However, this period can be extended if there is a valid reason.
The new DOC extension is 30 days from the date of receipt of the claimant’s additional information – June 28, 2022, which means the deadline will be July 28, 2022.
