Australia ends anti-dumping duty on shaped aluminum originating from Vietnam

On June 24, 2022, the final conclusion for the final review of the anti-dumping duty period for shaped aluminum originating from Vietnam and Malaysia was announced by the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADC).

The Australian Anti-Dumping Commission commenced its final review of shaped aluminum originating from Vietnam on September 15, 2021.

The investigation was initiated and carried out after considering the request of Plaintiff Capral Limited (Capral). The review period runs from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

Based on the final conclusion for the year-end review of anti-dumping duties on shaped aluminum originating from Vietnam and Malaysia by the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission (ADC), Australia will not continue to impose anti-dumping duty on goods subject to review – shaped aluminum products originating from Vietnam and Malaysia.

According to the announcement, the reason ADC made this decision was based on the report that the volume of shaped aluminum from Malaysia and Vietnam has only accounted for a relatively small proportion of the Australian market during the past 5 years.

Accordingly, the application of anti-dumping measures does not create significant impacts on the shaped aluminum industry of Australia.

Australia ends anti-dumping duty on shaped aluminum originating from Vietnam

Based on that, although the anti-dumping may continue, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission considers that shaped aluminum imported from Vietnam and Malaysia is not likely to continue to cause damage to the manufacturing industry of Australia.

Therefore, the anti-dumping duty rate on shaped aluminum products currently at 1.9% for Vietnam will officially expire on June 27, 2022.
