The US Department of Commerce issued an official notice on the deadline for submission of comments and factual information of the related parties in the case of anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duty evasion investigation on wooden cabinets imports from Vietnam as well as comments on data released by US Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Accordingly, relevant parties will have a final deadline for submission of comments at 5:00 p.m. on August 4, 2022 (Eastern Time), equivalent to 4:00 a.m. on August 5, 2022 (Hanoi time, Vietnam – Indochina Time).
On May 24, 2022, the US Department of Commerce DOC initiated an investigation into whether wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam and Malaysia into the United States using parts imported from China were within the scope of the trade remedies measures that the United States is applying to similar Chinese products.
On June 7, 2022, the United States Department of Commerce (DOC) issued an official notice on the initiation of an anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duty evasion investigation with wooden cabinets imported from Vietnam and Malaysia under the petition of the plaintiff representing the domestic industry of the United States.
For wood manufacturing and exporting enterprises in Vietnam, they will have 30 days from the date of initiation to submit comments and provide counter-information to the US Investigation Agency, that is, 30 days from the date of May 24, 2022.
As a rule, the DOC will issue a final conclusion within 120 days from the date of initiation. However, this period can be extended for another 180 days if there is a good reason i.e. 300 days. This period may continue to be extended, but the total extension period shall not exceed 365 days.

Considering that the time limit of 30 days from the date of initiation to submit comments and provide counter-information to the Investigation Agency of the United States is not sufficient for Vietnamese manufacturing and exporting enterprises, the United States Department of Commerce has announced an extension of the time to submit comments and provide feedback to the investigation until 4:00 am on July 1, 2022, Vietnam time, equivalent to 5:00 pm on June 30, 2022 (Eastern Time), that is, 1 week from the previous deadline of June 24, 2022.
However, considering that the above time frame is still limited, not enough for the related parties to properly and fully prepare the content according to the regulations and the required format, the DOC has decided to continue to extend the submission deadline for comment and critique in the case of product scope investigation for Vietnam’s wooden furniture until July 7, 2022.
Recently, the US Department of Commerce has set a deadline for submitting comments and factual information of the related parties in the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy duty evasion investigation on imported wooden cabinets from Vietnam as well as comments on data released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) through 5:00 p.m. on August 4, 2022 (Eastern Time), equivalent to 4:00 am on August 5, 2022 (Hanoi time, Vietnam – Indochina Time).
