On February 26, 2026, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) received an application requesting a sunset review of the anti-dumping measures imposed on certain H-shaped steel products originating from China. The application was submitted by representatives of the domestic industry associated with structural steel manufacturers in Vietnam.
As of May 21, 2026, the application was confirmed to be complete and valid in accordance with Vietnam’s trade remedy regulations.
The products subject to the review are H-shaped steel products — materials commonly used in industrial projects, steel structures, transport infrastructure, factories, and large-scale construction projects. This product group maintains stable demand in the Vietnamese market while also facing significant competitive pressure from low-priced imported products over many years.
In the context of continued growth in the construction sector and public investment activities, developments in the case are considered likely to have certain implications for raw material supply chains, import activities, as well as the commercial strategies of some domestic steel manufacturing and distribution enterprises.
Under current regulations, within 30 days from the date of confirmation of a valid application, the investigating authority will examine the relevant information, documents, and evidence before submitting the matter to the competent authority for consideration and decision on whether to initiate the sunset review of the anti-dumping measures.
A sunset review plays an important role in assessing the likelihood of the continuation or recurrence of dumping practices if the existing measures are terminated, as well as evaluating the potential impact on the domestic manufacturing industry.
