On August 5, 2024, the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, issued questionnaires to domestic producers and importers regarding the end-of-term review of the anti-dumping investigation on monosodium glutamate (MSG) from China and Indonesia.
On July 22, 2020, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1933/QD-BCT on the imposition of official anti-dumping duties on MSG products from Indonesia and China (case code: ER01.AD09).
On April 6, 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 640/QD-BCT on the results of the first review of the application of official anti-dumping duties on certain MSG products originating from China and Indonesia.
On June 19, 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1466/QD-BCT on the second review of the application of anti-dumping measures on MSG products from China and Indonesia.
On July 23, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1947/QD-BCT on the end-of-term review of the application of anti-dumping measures on certain MSG products from Indonesia and China. The end-of-term review will assess the necessity, reasonableness, and socio-economic impact of extending the measures, and whether their termination could lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping practices and subsequent injury.
The deadline for stakeholders to submit their questionnaire responses is before 5:00 PM, September 13, 2024 (Hanoi time).
To ensure their rights and interests, domestic producers and importers involved in the MSG investigation should proactively register to participate in the review if they have not been notified as mandatory respondents.
The content of the responses will serve as a basis for the investigating authority to consider selecting samples and limiting the scope of the investigation if necessary. In cases where the investigating authority does not receive timely responses or if the provided information is inaccurate or incomplete, the authority may use available information to reach conclusions, which is often disadvantageous for businesses.
Therefore, companies need to carefully read the instructions before responding and submit their responses on time. If necessary, they should consult a reputable law firm specializing in anti-dumping and trade remedies.
