Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has extended the time limit for investigating and applying anti-dumping measures to a number of table and chair products originating from Malaysia and China.
Information about the case
On September 1, 2021, the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 2091/QD-BCT on investigating and applying anti-dumping measures to a number of table and chair products originating from Malaysia and China.
On September 15, 2021, the Vietnam Department of Trade Remedies issued a Questionnaire on quantity & value for foreign manufacturing and exporting enterprises with the deadline for submission before 5:00 p.m. on October 21, 2021.
On December 6, 2021, the Vietnam Department of Trade Remedies sent an official investigation questionnaire to foreign manufacturers and exporters in the case of the anti-dumping investigation on a number of table and chair products from China and Malaysia.
The Investigation Agency has repeatedly extended the deadline for submitting responses to investigation questions. The first extension is until 5:00 p.m. on January 26, 2022. The second extension is until 5:00 p.m. on February 9, 2022.
The response is considered to be submitted on time when the Investigation Agency receives all the paper and electronic copies before this time.
Tables and chairs under investigation are classified according to HS codes: 9401.30; 9401.40.00; 9401.61.00; 9401.69.90; 9401.71.00; 9401.79.90; 9401.80.00; 9401.90.40; 9401.90.92; 9401.90.99; 9403.30.00; 9403.60.90; 9403.90.90
The investigation period to determine dumping behavior is from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.
The investigation period to determine damage is from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2021.
Extension of the time limit for investigating the application of anti-dumping measures on a number of table and chair products originating from Malaysia and China
In order to have more time to consider the details related to the investigation of applying anti-dumping measures to a number of table and chair products originating from Malaysia and China, based on the provisions of Clause 3 Article 70 of the Law on Foreign Trade Management, on August 15, 2022, the Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 1621/QD-BCT on extending the time limit for investigating the application of anti-dumping measures on some tables and chairs products from Malaysia and China for another 06 months.
Accordingly, the deadline for the investigation of the case is March 1, 2023.
