On May 22, 2023, the US Department of Commerce issued the final conclusion in the investigation of circumvention of anti-dumping duty with round stainless steel wire rod imported from Vietnam. According to the information of the DOC, Vietnamese enterprises did not implement the above anti-dumping duty circumvention.
Originating from the US order to impose anti-dumping duties on round stainless steel wire rod of the United States against Korea, on May 18, 2021, the US Department of Commerce received a request to conduct an investigation of anti-dumping duty circumvention of Korean enterprises, through various countries to export to the United States.
In February 2022, the US Investigation Agency initiated an investigation against trade remedy circumvention on stainless steel wire rod from Vietnam. Preliminary conclusions were issued in December of the same year, according to which there was a preliminary conclusion that Vietnam did not commit acts of anti-dumping duties circumvention on the investigated rod.
The above investigation has a deadline to issue a final conclusion on April 11, 2023. However, on April 4, 2023, the US Department of Commerce issued a notice extending the time to issue the final conclusion on the case of investigation against duty circumvention of round stainless steel wire rod from Vietnam, with a new deadline of May 24, 2023.
Vietnam does not conduct anti-dumping duty circumvention on round stainless steel wire rod
On May 22, 2023, the US Department of Commerce issued the final conclusion in the investigation of anti-dumping duty circumvention with round stainless steel wire rod imported from Vietnam.
Accordingly, the United States maintains its assessment in the preliminary conclusion, that is, Vietnam does not conduct anti-dumping duties circumvention on round stainless steel wire rod that the United States is applying to similar rod origin from Korea.
This is positive news for enterprises manufacturing and exporting investigational rod to the United States – Vietnam’s key trading partner in many fields.
This success is the result of enthusiastic coordination between many Vietnamese businesses, their legal representatives and the Vietnam Trade Remedies Administration. Hopefully, in the future, Vietnam will continue to reach many similar conclusions, in order to achieve the goal of continuing to develop stably and sustainably in the medium and long term.
