Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 924/QD-BCT on terminating the application of anti-dumping measures to a number of galvanized steel products originating from Korea and China (case code ER01.AD02) last 12/5/2022.
Based on the Law on Foreign Trade Management and the dossier of requests for review by representatives of the domestic manufacturing industry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade conducted a final review in June 2021.
It is known that all investigative processes and procedures related to the case are organized and conducted in accordance with the provisions of the World Trade Organization, the Law on Foreign Trade Management, and related regulations.
After a long time of in-depth investigation, synthesized a lot of information and opinions from stakeholders, and carefully considered and evaluated the impacts of imported galvanized steel products on the domestic industry and the level of dumping of Korean and Chinese manufacturing and exporting businesses in the case of application of anti-dumping measures to a number of galvanized steel products originating from the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of China, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has released investigation results showing that after 5 years of applying anti-dumping measures, the domestic manufacturing industry no longer suffers significant damage as before.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade concluded that with the current situation, goods imported from Korea and China are unlikely to repeat the damage to the domestic industry.
Issuing the final conclusion after the end-of-term review
Accordingly, based on the results obtained from the investigation process and legal bases such as WTO regulations, Law on Foreign Trade Management, guiding documents, and opinions of stakeholders, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued the final conclusion and made a decision to terminate the application of anti-dumping measures on a number of galvanized steel products originating from Korea and China.
However, in order to make sure that there will be no other effects from the export of galvanized steel products from Korea and China to Vietnam, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to work closely with relevant agencies and units to continue to closely monitor the import of some galvanized steel products from many sources, including but not limited to Korea and China, into Vietnam to promptly take appropriate measures in accordance with international commitments and domestic laws.
The stakeholders in the case, if they have any new information about the developments of the case, can contact the Trade Remedies Department to receive support as well as professional legal advice to protect their legitimate interests as well as those of consumers.
