On September 19, 2024, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) issued a Statement of Reasons regarding the final conclusions related to the anti-dumping investigation of wire imported from China, Egypt, and Vietnam (WR 2024 IN).
The import volumes and specific duty rates for Vietnamese exporters are as follows:
Exporter | Import Volume During Investigation (% of Total Imports) | Dumping Margin (% of Export Price) |
Vietnam | 33.6% | Not Determined |
Hòa Phát Dung Quất | 33.1% | 17.7% |
Hòa Phát Hải Dương | 0.5% | 13.5% |
Other Exporters | 0% | Not Determined |
Canada did not determine a dumping margin for other Vietnamese exporters as they did not export during the investigation period. If the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) concludes that domestic industry has been harmed, the CBSA will impose duties on manufacturers and exporters based on the determined dumping margins.
In this case, the anti-dumping duty for other Vietnamese companies, including those that may begin exporting to Canada, is set at 38.1%.
To protect their interests, stakeholders should contact Vietnamese law firms with expertise in anti-dumping and trade remedy matters for timely assistance.
