On July 2, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Decision No. 1914/QĐ-BCT regarding the final results of the sunset review of the antidumping measures applied to certain monosodium glutamate (MSG) products imported from Indonesia and China.
Pursuant to the provisions of Decree No. 86/2025/NĐ-CP, the Vietnamese investigating authority is currently accepting review requests from interested parties concerning the antidumping duties currently imposed on these products.
The products subject to review are monosodium glutamate (MSG), a seasoning ingredient widely used in the food industry, food processing sector, and packaged food manufacturing in Vietnam. This product has a large consumption volume and faces significant competition between domestically produced goods and imported products from Asian markets.
The continuation or adjustment of the antidumping measures is considered to have a direct impact on Vietnamese MSG producers. If the antidumping duties remain in force, domestic manufacturers may continue to receive protection against price competition from low-priced imports. Conversely, if the duties are reduced or terminated, competitive pressure on the domestic industry could increase significantly.
In addition to the impact on domestic producers, the case also affects importers, distributors, and companies using MSG as an input material, as the antidumping duties may influence product pricing and production costs throughout the food supply chain.
Under the current legal framework, interested parties are entitled to submit review requests together with complete supporting information and documents in accordance with applicable regulations. The deadline for submission of review applications is June 12, 2026.
