On August 14, 2024, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) of India initiated an anti-dumping investigation into hot rolled steel coils originating from or exported by Vietnam.
The products under investigation include both alloyed and non-alloyed hot rolled steel coils that are uncoated, unplated, or uncoated, with a thickness of up to 25mm and a width of up to 2100mm, falling under HS codes: 7208; 7211; 7225; 7226. The investigation excludes hot rolled stainless steel coils.
The petitioners representing the Indian hot rolled steel coil industry are JSW Steel Limited and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited.
The investigation period includes:
(i) Anti-dumping investigation period (POI): January 1, 2023, to March 31, 2024 (15 months);
(ii) Injury investigation period: April 1, 2020 – March 31, 2021, April 1, 2021 – March 31, 2022, April 1, 2022 – March 31, 2023, and the POI.
Within 30 days from the date of receiving the initiation notice, interested parties may submit information and opinions related to the investigation to the DGTR. If no response is received, the DGTR will use the available information to make its determination.
