On April 30, 2026, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission under the Department of Industry, Science and Resources announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation concerning galvanized steel products imported from Vietnam and South Korea following a complaint filed by BlueScope Steel Australia. The investigation was registered under case number 702.
According to the complaint, BlueScope alleged that certain exporters from Vietnam and South Korea sold galvanized steel products in the Australian market at prices lower than their normal value, thereby causing material injury to the Australian domestic steel industry.
However, after reviewing the filing, BlueScope requested the withdrawal of investigation case number 702 upon discovering that South Korean exporter Dongkuk Coated Metal Co. Ltd (DCM) had been omitted from the list of exporters identified in the original application. The request was subsequently accepted by the Commission.
On May 22, 2026, the Commission accepted a new complaint submitted by BlueScope, which included DCM within the scope of the investigation, and officially initiated a new investigation under case number 703. Accordingly, DCM, together with the exporters previously identified in case number 702, will continue to be investigated for alleged dumping of galvanized steel products exported to Australia.
The period of investigation (POI) remains unchanged, covering January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2025. Relevant companies are required to submit responses to the investigation questionnaire by June 29, 2026.
The products subject to investigation continue to include goods classified under HS codes 7210.49.00, 7212.30.00, 7225.92.00, and 7226.99.00.
According to the current schedule, the Australian Anti-Dumping Commission is expected to complete the investigation and submit its report to the Minister for Industry and Innovation and the Minister for Science of Australia by October 26, 2026.
