On July 23, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Decision No. 1947/QĐ-BCT to initiate a end-of-term review of the anti-dumping measures currently in force against certain monosodium glutamate (MSG) products originating from Indonesia and China.
This periodic review is conducted in accordance with legal provisions to assess the necessity of maintaining, amending, or terminating the existing anti-dumping measures, under case code ER01.AD09.
During the review process, to ensure that the evaluation of information, data, arguments, and evidence submitted by relevant parties is conducted thoroughly, objectively, and comprehensively, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, pursuant to Point d, Clause 2, Article 82 of the Law on Foreign Trade Management No. 05/2017/QH14, decided to extend the period for the aforementioned end-of-term review.
Specifically, on April 18, 2025, the Ministry issued Decision No. 1067/QĐ-BCT, extending the end-of-term review period for case ER01.AD09 by an additional three months from the original deadline. Accordingly, the new conclusion date of the review process will be July 23, 2025.
This extension is not only in compliance with current legal regulations but also intended to allow the investigating authority to continue collecting, analyzing, and comprehensively assessing the potential continuation or recurrence of dumping practices, as well as the extent of the injury or threat of injury to the domestic industry should the existing anti-dumping measures be removed.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to encourage full, timely, and honest cooperation from all relevant parties—including foreign producers and exporters, domestic importers, and industry associations—to ensure the end-of-term review outcome accurately reflects the actual situation and aligns with Vietnam’s international commitments in the field of trade remedies.
To protect their legitimate interests, manufacturers and exporters should familiarize themselves with the procedure and actively contact Vietnamese law firms specializing in anti-dumping and trade remedy for timely assistance.
