The Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam (TRAV) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade is currently receiving exemption requests from anti-dumping duties on certain hot-rolled steel products originating from India and China. This is an important step in the implementation of trade remedy measures, reflecting the regulator’s flexibility in considering special cases while ensuring the legitimate interests of all parties involved.
The exemption requests pertain to two types of high-strength hot-rolled steel used in the manufacturing of semi-trailers and specialized vehicles. Specifically, the first product type is alloy steel grade LG700T and BS700MCK2, with a yield strength of 700 MPa and tensile strength ranging from 750–950 MPa. The dimensions and technical specifications of this steel type are clearly outlined as the basis for consideration.
The second product is hot-rolled steel plate grade NM450 and BW450, with a minimum yield strength of 1100 MPa and minimum tensile strength of 1300 MPa. This steel type features tightly controlled chemical compositions and is manufactured according to specific technical standards tailored to particular industrial applications.
To complete the exemption review process, domestic producers are requested to provide feedback on their ability to supply similar products, as well as their specific views on each product group under the exemption request. The deadline for submission is April 17, 2025. After this date, the TRAV will consider the absence of feedback as an indication that the business has no objection to the exemption being reviewed.
