Recently, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) issued an official notice regarding the extension of a reinvestigation aimed at updating normal values and export prices for certain carbon steel screws from China and Taiwan.
Goods directly exported from Vietnam to Canada are not subject to the trade remedy investigation. However, the investigating authority has received some evidence indicating a connection between Vietnamese exporters and importers in Canada.
This behavior could serve as a basis for the Canadian investigating authority to expand the scope of investigation into the circumvention of trade remedies to Vietnamese businesses or initiate anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigations separately against Vietnamese products.
