On April 1, 2025, the Ministry of Industry and Trade issued Decision No. 914/QD-BCT regarding the imposition of temporary anti-dumping duties on certain galvanized steel products originating from China and South Korea.
According to this decision, the highest temporary anti-dumping duty applied is 37.13% on goods from China and 15.67% on goods from South Korea.
During the investigation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam coordinated with relevant authorities to assess the detailed impact of dumping practices on the domestic manufacturing industry, as well as the level of dumping by producers and exporters from these two countries, in accordance with the Foreign Trade Management Law.
Data from customs shows that by the end of March 2024, the import volume of the products under investigation over the past 12 months reached 454,000 tons, an increase of 91% compared to the same period last year. Notably, after the Ministry of Industry and Trade initiated the investigation, imports from China and South Korea continued to rise.
In the last nine months of 2024 alone, the total import volume reached approximately 382,000 tons, an increase of 20% compared to the same period. Therefore, in order to prevent the rapid increase of imported goods that could cause serious harm to the domestic manufacturing industry, Vietnam decided to apply temporary anti-dumping measures.
Under the Foreign Trade Management Law, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to conduct on-site investigations of foreign manufacturing and exporting enterprises, as well as domestic importing businesses, to reach a final conclusion.
