With the initial deadline for submitting responses to the anti-dumping investigation questionnaire on coated steel products originating from China and South Korea set for August 7, 2024, many foreign producers/exporters have expressed that this timeline is insufficient for them to prepare thorough and detailed information.
Acknowledging this reasonable concern, the Trade Remedies Authority under the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam has decided to extend the deadline for submitting responses to the anti-dumping investigation questionnaire for foreign producers/exporters in the investigation of coated steel from China and South Korea.
On May 3, 2024, the Trade Remedies Authority of Vietnam officially announced the receipt of complete and valid dossiers requesting an investigation into the application of anti-dumping measures on coated steel from China and South Korea, following the opening of the receipt of dossiers from interested parties on April 19, 2024.
On June 14, 2024, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued Decision No. 1535/QD-BCT on the investigation of anti-dumping measures on coated steel products from China and South Korea.
On July 1, 2024, the Trade Remedies Authority issued Notification No. 87/TB-PVTM regarding the issuance of the official investigation questionnaire for foreign producers/exporters in case AD19. Accordingly, the deadline for responding to the questionnaire was set at 17:00 on August 7, 2024 (Hanoi time).
During the preparation of the responses to the investigation questionnaire, businesses submitted requests for an extension of the response deadline due to difficulties in preparing the information in a detailed and comprehensive manner. Considering this feedback and to ensure objectivity and fairness among the involved parties, thereby providing complete and accurate information for the case evaluation, the investigating authority issued Notification No. 97/TB-PVTM regarding the extension of the deadline for foreign producers/exporters in case AD19 by an additional 30 days, i.e., until 17:00 on September 6, 2024 (Hanoi time).
After this deadline, the investigating authority may use available data in accordance with the law on trade remedies.
For other aspects, businesses are still required to follow the guidelines provided in the official investigation questionnaire issued under Notification No. 87/TB-PVTM.
